About Me

Hello, my name is Luca. I am a software developer turned data scientist with nearly 4 years of industry experience + a Master's CS degree to boot. I have ventured into several subfields of tech having built web/desktop/mobile applications, 3D graphical applications with WebGL, powerful language models, and beyond. Some of these were for work but most were just for the sake of realizing some idea that I had. Over the course of all these projects both professional and personal, I have accumulated quite a bit of technical knowledge.

Ultimately, I have found myself in the field of Data Science where I currently work as a Data Scientist at the consumer electronics company, Sonos. Sonos has allowed me to develop not only my data science skills but my data engineering and MLOps skills as well. For this reason, I feel comfortable working in all parts of the data science technology stack.

Data Scientist

Developed and deployed an end-to-end forecasting pipeline from data ingestion to model training to forecast generation with AWS.
Transformed business-critical telemetry data into a more functional and efficient representation that analysts across the organization could use.
Published a Tableau dashboard providing insights into customer LTV based on telemetry data to aid business strategy.
Rewrote complex SQL queries boosting their execution speed by up to 20x.

ASCA Inc.

Software Analyst

Created and sold a VBA Access application that provided an interface for the client to model an Event Sequence Diagram, output it to excel, and perform necessary calculations.
Revamped company’s bayesian network analysis software by increasing functionality and completely refacing the GUI using C++ and C++ Builder.
Performed tests and debugging assignments on company’s multi-valued logic analysis and discrete simulation software to improve functionality and verify results.

BiP Consulting

Data Science Intern

Performed a variety of web-scraping, data-cleansing, and data-exploration tasks to be used in machine learning projects.
Researched, implemented, and assessed the viability of various image recognition algorithms.

Physics Research Intern

Researched and gave a presentation on the frustration properties of Artificial Spin Ice.
Modified proprietary code to run simulations of experiments from which I could extract necessary data from.

I received my degree from Italy's most prestigious technical university with a final grade of 105/110. During this time, I took 20 computer science and math courses with a focus in data science, and completed a thesis in natural language processing. Living in Italy, I also had the benefit of connecting with family and learning Italian proficiently.

Took courses and received straight A's in OOP, circuit design, software engineering, databases, operating systems, and algorithms. These courses provided the theoretical foundation that prepared me for my Master's.
